In 2009 we partnered with The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, volunteers, no-kill rescues and shelters, and breed rescue groups. The Ray of Hope program significantly reduced euthanasia in our shelter, saving thousands of pets. Our partnership includes transfers of pets to no-kill groups, spaying and neutering of all of those pets, weekend satellite events, and distributing information on low-cost spaying and neutering to the KCK community.

For more information on The Ray of Hope and how you can help (besides adopting!), visit web site.

Every year since his passing, his loved ones host a party in his memory and raise money for organizations in the Kansas City area. This past year, the memorial party was held on September 3rd at the Dotte Spot Bar and Grill and $2,950 was raised for Pets for Vets-KC in Mel's honor (BNSF Foundation matched a donation of $1,250)!
